Have you ever woken up early in the morning and gone for a walk just before sunrise? The view is amazing and it's a fantastic way to start your day. Walking for weight loss can have many benifits - if your walking outdoors your getting plenty of fresh air and sunlight, it does'nt cost any money and if your walking with friends then its a great way to socialize and lose weight.

When walking to lose weight you must walk with power in your stide and walk at a faster pace than you usually would to get your heart rate up. By walking at a faster pace you are burning off more calories and that is what is needed to lose weight. Walking by itself will not get you the results you need, you also need to maintain a healthy diet plan.
If your thinking about walking to shred those pounds or you are already walking for exercise then it's important to plan out your walks carefully. You don't want to be walking the same route everytime instead you need to mix it up and add veriety other wise your body will get used to it and you wont continue to lose weight.
So I recommend you walk one route for one week and then a different route the next week and so on. Walking up and down hills will also help burn those calories and strengthen you muscles so dont be scared to choose a route that has hills.
Take the Dog Walking To
If your a dog owner you could take your dog for a walk with you. I'm always taking my pet labradour for walks along the beach and parks and it makes the walk so much more enjoyable.
If you don't have a dog but you have an mp3 player you could listen to your favorite music while walking. I recommend listening to music that will pump you up and keep you motivated. Listening to music or walking your dog will keep your mind off how far you have gone and you wont talk yourself into taking short cuts which we all tend to do at times.
Walking with friends
Organising your walks so you are walking with a friend or a group of friends will keep you motivated especially if you all have similar goals because then you can push each other to reach your weight loss goals.
Don't Forget to Stretch
One of the most important things to remember when doing any type of exercise is to stretch your muscles. You don't want to get home and cramp up or pull a muscle. Stretching will help you avoid this and also prevent your muscles from feeling sore.

Power Walk
Walk with a friend, your dog or with music
Dont walk the same route everytime
Finish with some stretches
